Slightly Out Of Focus by White Raven is a mixture of urban loneliness and analogue romanticism. Harsh feelings in a fluctuating environment, polyrhythmic textures and cinematic soundscapes. It's techno. It's damaged. It's melodic. The Ep's four tracks are deep, romantic and psychedelic, but also disturbing and obsessive. A new idea of dance music, influenced by dubstep snare rolls, techno kickdrums and minimal hats, a mixture of Burial's abstraction and Jon Hopkins' lyricism.
