Italian musician and producer Paolo Iocca presents his singular musical vision Spire in his debut Ep “Healing Loops”, out on his own imprint, Random Numbers. This is his boldest production in his career so far - a sheer, multifaceted sonic experience.
With layers upon layers of breathtaking vocal lines, hypnotic synth phrases and dark atmospheric undertones, this Ep sits somewhere between a floating lucid dream and a long walk on the dark side of a big city. It's sonic casting at its finest.
Being a self-taught guitar player and multi-instrumentalist, with a long carrier as singer-songwriter in post-rock experimental bands (including Franklin Delano and Blake/e/e/e), helped develop and shape his unique approach to producing. He dropped the traditional instruments and started working with computer and just a few hardware pieces, building the tracks around vocal and music samples and a couple of synths. Paolo says, “the new approach was important because guitar, bass and piano had been my main gear for a long time and it started to tie my creativity down to my old writing process. Now it feels like a new musical cycle is starting.”
This whole new process will also involve upcoming live shows, with a tour planned for Spring 2015.
The Ep moves with subtlety through euphoric escapes and arpeggios, moody and oblique melodies, dark dub infected grooves, and sudden breaks of light. A dense and layered body of work filled with complex textures and dramatic changes of scenario, revealing itself more with each listen.
By challenging himself to work outside of his established musical environment, Paolo Iocca has re-invented himself through Spire. “Healing Loops” shows the beginning of a new, exciting and unconventional musical path.

Another very pleasant electro EP from Brokntoys. Solid production, mostly good to dance to or to listen to while working or doing sports. Rating: 4/5 - Keep going ;) quzani
That compilation is adorable, and most of its tracks are great. It is hard to decide on a favourite piece. Most tracks are very danceable, straightforward neo-electro with a dark touch. Beautiful work - Keep it up, brokntoys! My rating 4/5 quzani
